Alcatel-Lucent introduce Voice 2.0
The developer program is intended both for extending legacy IN features on to the Web as well as to introduce new web-enabled applications. Alcatel-Lucent’s IMS application server has IN interfaces that will be exposed through Web 2.0 APIs, while existing products such as the Contact List Server, Presence Server, etc are already offering Web 2.0 interfaces.
Alcatel-Lucent is currently setting up a partnership program that will include leading System Integrators, and developers. The vendor is focused on providing tools for others to develop Voice 2.0 applications. There is not going to be much internal development by Alcatel-Lucent. However, from its products point of view, the company already has a Web 2.0 Web client (widget like), allowing an individual to access his contact list, manage his presence, subscribe to presence of others, send instant messages, set-up voice call service, etc.
All Alcatel-Lucent applications developed on the IMS Application Server expose Web 2.0 APIs: Contact List Server, Presence Server, Multimedia Messenger, Personnal Communication Manager. Additionally, Alcatel-Lucent is in the process of developing a REST interface for exposing Web 2.0 interfaces. This means that developers developing an application on the IMS App Server, will be able to have a de-facto Web 2.0 exposure.
