Counterpath, già sviluppatrice di software come EyeBeam e X-Lite, annuncia Bria 2.0, softphone SIP basato sulla stessa tecnologia di EyeBeam. Questo nuovo software migliora l’usabilità da parte dell’utente e permette una maggiore customizzazione da parte dell’operatore o del produttore hardware che lo adotti per i propri clienti.

Come ormai quasi tutti i software concorrenti, Bria integra chiamate audio e video, instant messaging e presence management.

Queste le caratteristiche che lo differenziano dalla precedente offerta di Counterpath:

For end users:

• Contact-centric vs. dialpad-centric – Bria’s dynamic GUI (Graphical User Interface) focuses around the address book rather than the more traditional dial pad, enabling users to manage their communications more conveniently and according to their personal preferences.
• Deskbar capability – Bria can be minimized to a deskbar, enabling the user to enjoy a manageable desktop space while still being able to make and receive calls.

For service providers:

• Increased branding flexibility – Bria’s new skinning engine gives customers increased options to create customized applications to support their brand and meet the needs of their clients.
• Wider advertising reach – Bria’s multiple panel layout incorporates customer specified areas for branded or revenue generating advertisements such as banner ads, click-to-call and interactive video messaging, as well as custom integration with network infrastructure.

Bria 2.0 è disponibile per Windows XP e Windows 2000. Versioni per Windows Vista e Mac OS X saranno presto disponibili. E’ possibile acquistare Bria sul sito di Counterpath. Il prezzo per una licenza singola è 60$, forse un po’ troppo per l’utente medio. Non mancano sconti sul prezzo unitario per acquisti a pacchetti di licenze, pensati per l’azienda. La stessa Counterpath distribuisce gratuitamente il softphone SIP X-Lite, basato su EyeBeam, uno dei più diffusi e apprezzati.
