Da quando ha aperto la propria piattaforma di social networking alle applicazioni sviluppate da terzi, Facebook ha raccolto oltre 3500 piccole applicazioni Web che gli utenti possono integrare al proprio profilo ed utilizzare per interagire con i propri amici.

Facebook si è rivelata una miniera d’oro per molte startup che hanno potuto pubblicizzare e diffondere i propri servizi Web creandone una versione per Facebook, in grado di generare traffico ed incrementare gli iscritti sfruttando modalità di diffusione virali (ogni volta che si installa un’applicazione i propri amici ricevono una notifica o in certi casi un invito). Potete controllare su Adonomics le statistiche sugli utenti registrati e la classifica delle applicazioni più diffuse, in continuo aggiornamento.

Non mancano ovviamente applicazioni in grado di utilizzare la voce per comunicare con i propri amici su Facebook, in alcuni casi sul web, direttamente da un profilo, in altri avviando conversazioni telefoniche tramite telefoni fissi e cellulari, avviate dal web con lo stesso meccanismo callback di JaJah (nelle prossime settimane proprio Jajah dovrebbe lanciare una propria applicazione per Facebook).

Ho selezionato una decina di queste applicazioni, tra cui quelle sviluppate dalle ormai note GrandCentral, Jangl e Jaxtr e svariate applicazioni della californiana YackPack.
